About

In the fall of 2012, just weeks before Hurricane Sandy invaded New York City, Van Power LLC began operations in New York. In a city widely effected by flooding and power outages, founders Bryan Wachtel and Frida Marzouk set to work in the generator rental business. With over 25 years of combined experience in the TV Motion Picture Lighting Scene in New York behind them, they plunged into the darkness to help restore the lights.

Bryan Wachtel has been around the electric business his entire life. Raised in Upstate New York surrounded by the family's electrical construction business, he learned early about the applications of electricity. Bryan moved to the City in the mid 90s to attend NYU Film School. Fusing his electrical background with his film studies, he soon became involved with the blossoming New York Independent film scene as a lighting technician. For the past 17 years, Bryan has honed his skills on movies, TV shows, commericals and live events. He currently works as a commercial gaffer in New York City.

Frida Marzouk loves Robert Deniro and the films of Martin Scorsese. Born in Tunisia and raised in Paris, the films of Scorsese were an Americanized version of the French New Wave. Familiar but new. She received her film degree from the Sorbonne in Paris and moved to New York in 2004 to complete her studies (with a disertation on Socrsese).  Frida has travelled extensively and has had the privledge to be involved in the Tribecca, Morelia and Abu Dhabi Film Festivals. As a member of IATSE Local 52, she currently works as a motion picture gaffer in New York City.
